　　乔治男孩（道格拉斯·布斯 Douglas Booth 饰）是20世纪80年代英国新浪漫时期最具号召力的流行偶像，以男扮女妆的形象惊艳歌坛。1981年他所在的“文化俱乐部”乐队一鸣惊人，追平了披头四首张单曲即打入美国排行榜前3的佳绩。“文化俱乐部”音乐风格以现代电子浪漫音乐为基调，集结了各种元素，乔治男孩作为主唱也倍受欢迎，成为乐队的灵魂人物。然而好景不常，他们的第三张专辑即遭遇滑铁卢，乔治男孩在同一时间亦染上毒瘾，更因跟队友男鼓手感情纠葛而走向决裂。解散单飞后乔治男孩再无热门歌曲问世，近年更身陷多起官司。

　　作为BBC传记电影，本片回顾了乔治男孩成名前不为人知的故事以及他和最好朋友玛丽莲（弗莱迪·福克斯 Freddie Fox 饰）的同居生活。电影侧重描写乔治男孩与多位男性的感情纠葛，为他未来的一蹶不振做出注解，同时如实呈现了英国纸醉金迷的70至80年代。
